I had my 1st full week at the Gravesham Community Hospital in Gravesend, West Kent on the Neuro rehab ward. After my second run on the motorway I eventually mastered the route (150km return trip, one hour each way and 10 pounds worth of petrol each day!). I work with some lovely people and have some challenging patients who I hope I can make a difference with in my short time there. I worked good Friday then on Easter Saturday Thea and I drove up to Mortimer to spend Easter Sunday with Nan and Grampa where we had a yummy roast lamb lunch and walked it off through the blue bell woods. On Good Friday my car broke down on the way home from work (clutch cable snapped) just leading onto a round about so I sat in traffic for an hour waving people on waiting for the AA to arrive who then took an hour to temporarily repair it enough for me to get home - I'm just glad it didn't happen on the motorway! We went to a yummy Chinese restaraunt near Thea's place in Wadhurst for dinner which made up for it. I have lined up my next job to work in the acute medical / geriatric ward at the Wollingford Community Hospital, about a 35-40 minute drive from Nan and Grampa's for at least a month possibly longer which I am happy about.
