23/9/2011 Nykoping, Sweden to Munich, Germany

We got up at 4:20am and packed the last of our things and dropped the hire car back before heading off on our 2 hour flight to Munich. We collected our next hire car in Munich and went out to load up and head off only to find the car was a 2 door, convertible SMART car!!! Very cool car but lacking room for us and all our gear which made for a very interesting few days! We jammed everything in and set off to Dachau concentration camp (we paid the extra to get a sat nav which we decided was money very well spent!). When we got to Dachau we left the car parked on the side of the road and then caught the bus and train straight into Munich to check out Oktoberfest. We wandered through the crowds in and out of the beer halls, had a few drinks (but not beer, too difficult to get to! Went to a cocktail bar and had jaeger shots instead!) and soaked up the atmosphere. There were lots of cool bands singing and dancing in the beer halls with all the beer songs and masses of drunk people singing along... we were unable to sit at a table in any beer halls (tables needed to be booked well in advance) so had a bit more of a look around, ate some bratwursts and roasted nuts and then made our way back to the car on the train and bus again. We stopped at a pub on the way back for Kim to have a stein then made it back to the car in time to get to the supermarket and stock up on some food before setting up for the night. We pitched the tent in the trees/park around Dachau and made sure we were out fairly early the next morning... We were luck it was a beautiful warm sunny day despite getting a lot cooler in the evening.
