After another early sad morning farewelling Kim at the airport on the 30th I had a few days to get myself organised before starting work again on Monday the 3rd of October. We had some amazing warm weather at the start of the week which helped me catch up with washing and airing out the tent and air mattresses and we even enjoyed a BBQ at Thea's place. Thea and I managed a few bike rides around Silchester and the Roman wall which was beautiful riding through tunnels of Autumn leaves, when the wind blew all the leaves started to fall and we were bombed by acorns dropping too! Even saw the odd squirrel ducking in and out of the woods... Grampa and I shared our stories about our experiences in Germany (his somewhat different to mine considering he fought in a war during his time there...).
I started work at the Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and spent some time on the medical wards and rehab ward (over at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot) then went back to the Wallingford Community Hospital for the second half of the week which was great to see everyone again and a little sad to find some of the same patients still there! It was good to get back to work and keep up my skills in lots of different areas; I'm hoping to continue in the two jobs until Christmas. By the end of the week I had the traffic timing figured out and the motorway route engrained.
