It was another beautiful warm sunny day and we had a quiet
relaxed morning around the hotel, watching the elephants walk past down to the
river just outside our door! Jenny and I took some bikes from the hotel and
rode into the village and did a bit of shopping which was fun. It was the ‘holi’
festival (colour festival) so all the kids were shouting ‘happy holi’ to us as
we rode past and were covered in all different coloured powdered paint which we
managed to avoid thankfully! Very cute though.
At 1pm we piled in the bus and set off for Pokhara,
approximately 5 hours away. We drove through more amazing scenery – valleys
with beautiful clear water flowing through them and tiered rice paddies all the
way down to the water. We saw loads of people covered in coloured paint and
kids having a great time with water guns etc for the holi festival.
We arrived in Pokhara for sunset and Hemang took us on a
walking tour of the town and down to the lakes edge before we went to a nice
restaurant by the water front for dinner. We ate inside because there was a
massive thunder and lightning display going on outside and we thought it might
rain but it didn’t.
We braved the walk back to the hotel through the colourful
people and managed not to get covered (unlike some poor doggies!).
