Sophie's travels 2011-2012: 8/3/2012 Pokhara, Nepal

We got up at 4am and met the group at 5am to go up one of the mountains above the lake to watch the sunrise over the Annapurna Himalayas. We drove for about 20 minutes in the bus then walked about 30 minutes to the top in time for sunrise. The view was spectacular out over the snow covered peaks and sunrise very impressive. We stayed up there for about an hour then walked back down to the bus and went back to the hotel. We relaxed for an hour or two and had something to eat before exploring the shops.

We stopped for coffee at a lovely restaurant on the waters edge with a beautiful garden which was great to relax in for a while. We then wandered around for a few hours and made some purchases. When we finished shopping we hired a canoe and paddled out to the temple in the middle of the lake and around the lake for an hour. It was very relaxing on the water in the sunshine and good fun to paddle ourselves around.

We wandered back to the hotel along the lake front and relaxed for an hour or so before meeting the rest of the group for dinner. We went to a great restaurant called Moondance on the main drag then made our way back to the hotel for some sleep before another early start.
