Another early start and pancakes fro breakfast on the hotel and we set off for Halong Bay, about a 3- 4 hours bus ride from Hanoi with some great scenery along the way. Lots of rice fields and tall skinny houses (because they can only afford very small blocks of land). When we arrived in Ha Long city we took a small boat to our main junk 'Poseidon' and set off into the islands, the scenery was amazing all around. We were served a fantastic seafood lunch as we were cruising. We went into some caves on one of the islands which was brilliant and Nick braved the cold weather and went kayaking. The night finished with Karyoke on board the boat, an Asian favourite which the crew got into in a big way!
The view from the docks, there are approximately 500 junks on the water at any one time. |

Inside the cave, there were all sorts of 'rock formations' that the Vietnamese can see different shapes in - some are easier to see than others! |
