We got up early this morning and Tom (An Engligh guy I met on the plane) joined Andy, Brendan and I on a bike ride to the Kuang Si waterfalls, 36km out of Luang Prabang. We hired mountain bikes after deliberating over just getting the town bikes for a long time. The ride was hard enough with the mountain bikes so thank goodness we didn't take the town bikes! There were 2 long gradual hills and numerous smaller ones in between which nearly killed me but the scenery along the way was amazing. We rode through numerous villages where kids would line up to give us hi five as we rode past yelling out Sabaidee (Lao for hello). The waterfalls were spectacular, I have never seen such aqua water before! It was a beautfil sunny day and nice to sit back and enjoy it once we got there. I met a lovely group of English girls at the waterfalls who were kind enough to let me join them in their tuk tuk on the way back with my bike on the roof, the boys pub crawled it back on their bikes and we finished the evening at a lovely bar/restaraunt across the Nam Kahn just near our hotel.

There were some bears being saved on the same site as the waterfalls (this was the best shot I could get through the fence!) |
