31.3.2011 Luang Prabang, Laos

I got up at 5:15 this morning to see the monks walk through the streets of Luang Prabang taking offerings from the locals in exchange for their blessings. The sea of orange was spectacular and great to watch. I then had breaky on the water front and helped the waiter with his English homework (well by helped I mean I did it for him for which he seemed very grateful!). It was hot and sunny and I spent the day wandering around the streets following the lonley planet walking tour. I finished the walk at the night market where I bought a great painting of a tree then made my way back to the hotel to meet the boys. We walked down to the 'sunset bar' where the Mekong meets the Nam Kahn river and  admired the sky changing colour over a cold Lao beer.

There are plenty of women trying to sell things for the tourists to give the monks like sticky rice in order to receive a blessing
