Sophie's travels 2011-2012: 22/01/2012 London, UK to Vilnius, Lithuania

We got to the airport in good time and got stung for not checking in online with Wizz Air beforehand, very frustrating but you win some and you lose some… We flew into a blanket of white snow in Lithuania and it was snowing as we stepped off the plane onto the tarmac – amazing! So beautiful! We caught the tram into town and walked to the hostel through the snow, it was about -10 degrees but the snow made it worthwhile! We dumped our gear at the hostel, (which was a great cosy, comfortable place) and wandered into the old town. We went to the museum of Genocide victims which was a real eye opener but good to see and well set out. We then walked down the street to the main cathedral which was really impressive, a service was just starting as we got there so was great to see a little. We walked back to the hostel visa the supermarket and got some supplies then cooked up a storm in the hostel kitchen. We chatted and planned the following day over dinner and managed to arrange a few walking tour with the receptionist which was good. We stayed at Hostelgate which was brilliant, lovely place and very helpful staff.
