31/01/2012 St. Petersburg, Russia TRANS SIBERIAN RAILWAY

Diana met us at 10am when it got light and we started the day by visiting a crazy Beatles fanatic where this guy had made a Beatles shrine with all their memorabilia. We then walked to an underground art gallery which unfortunately didn’t have anything on display so went to a cool Russian coffee shop where we had doughnuts and coffee – really tasty! We then went to a new section of the Hermitage museum that had just been built where we saw lots of artefacts from 45 AD from the Naples museum. We all had more Tepemok for lunch then we tried to go to the Kunst museum but it was the one Tuesday of the month that it is closed so Diana took us to her boyfriend’s work where he printed our train tickets for us and we warmed up (it was another freezing day – clear blue sunny sky and crispy air). From there we went to an army supplies shop for Chris and a department store where we got a few bits and pieces for the train ride including a little kettle element for 2 minute noodles and soup!
We went back to the hostel and hung out for a bit then met up with the other again and all went to pub nearby for a few drinks before dinner.
