14/2/2012 Terelj National Park, Mongolia TRANS SIBERIAN RAILWAY

We had a tasty cooked breaky then played some archery outside in the snow which was good fun (even though none of us hit the target!). After the archery we walked up a nearby hill for amazing views out across the snow covered hills and mountains – it was another clear blue sunny day which made the scenery even more spectacular. We went back to the camp to defrost before fried dumplings for lunch – another tasty dumpling dish! After lunch we went to the 40 metre tall Genghis Kahn statue / theme park. The statue is approximately 250 tonnes of stainless steel with a viewing platform that you walk out onto between his legs! From there we had great views out across the white snowy landscape then checked out the museum inside before heading back to the camp. On the way to the statue we saw a herd of Yaks walking themselves home – awesome to see in the snowy wilderness!
