We had a bit of a sleep in before heading off on tuk tuks to the city palace – another crazy ride through the traffic and pot holes… (great experience!). We had a tour of the palace which was really interesting - saw all sorts of weapons, textiles, art work and architecture.

From the palace we walked across the road to the Mantar Jantar, an observatory built in the 1700’s which was amazing, had the biggest sundial in the world which is accurate at telling the time to within 2 seconds!

From the observatory we walked to a restaurant then wandered down the main street which was a bit of a sensory overload with all the ‘organised chaos’ (as our tour guide calls it). Absolutely amazing walking past all the shops full of sari’s, spices, flowers, scarves etc and then the street with all the traffic and animals wandering around – craziness!

Just outside the entrance to the Old Town we saw a pilgrimage procession walk past with brightly coloured flags and sari’s – really beautiful. Our guide said with 1.2 million different gods, there is always some sort of pilgrimage on the go… We also saw a big brass band playing which was cool.
