We had a really early start and headed into Rome where we did a tour of the Vatican City, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel which was amazing. From there we went to the Pantheon and had a look inside at the open air ceiling with holes in the floor to drain the water when it rains! We then went on to The Roman Forum and The Colosseum both brilliant – the Colosseum was massive with a huge maze underneath and it took 3 hours to fill and only 10 minutes to empty back in the day of the gladiator fighting! We then had a long drive to Sorrento where we had a quick dinner and set up the tents in the dark – saw a pretty sunset on the drive there.
