21/7/2011 Paris, France – Contiki tour day 3

We were given day tickets for the public transport (bus and tube/train) and made our way into Paris where we had the day to explore. I walked around with a small group from the tour and we started by making our way to the Catacombes, unfortunately the line was a 2 hour wait and half of it was closed so we decided we would move on to the Notre Dame to fit as much as we could in our time in Paris. We wandered through the Notre Dame and then past the Saint Chapelle (old palace) to the Lourve. We wandered around the Lourve for a few hours, fought through the mosh pit to get a photo of the Mona Lisa then caught the tube back to the Arc de Triomphe to meet the rest of the group before heading back to the campsite for dinner. We then went back into the city where we walked around the Eiffel Tower first in day light (thanks to day light savings) then as the lights came on – very speccy. I didn’t climb the tower as had done this on my last trip to Paris.
