Sophie's travels 2011-2012: 16/9/2011 Brunsvall to Tivinne, Norway

We set the alarm to get up early so we could make it to Flam in time for our 'Norway in a Nutshell' trip. It was -1 degrees outside and we looked out to an amazing fog in the valley. We drove for 4.5 hours through amazing scenery, stopping along the way for pictures. Coming into Flam we drove through the longest tunnel in Norway: 24 kilometres long! There were lots of stopping points along the way with bright white lights inside the tunnel, like a night club! We made it to Flam with 30 minutes spare for our trip on the ferry. We had fantastic weather for the boat trip - clear blue skies and sun but quite chilly. The scenery reminded us a lot of Milford Sound in New Zealand - so spectacular! At the end of the boat trip there was a bus waiting for us in Gudvangen as part of our ticket which took us through more unreal scenery down really steep sharp corners, past waterfalls and along rivers to Voss where we had half an hour before catching the train to Mydral - through MORE awesome scenery!! From Mydral we caught the old Flam train back to Flam where we had left the car and taken the ferry earlier in the day. The Flam train took us back through the mountains past waterfalls and little villages, with short stops to admire the scenery along the way. We made it back to Flam around 7:30pm and started the drive to Bergen, we found a rest spot next to a waterfall to camp for the night in Tivinne.

Needless to say being probably the most spectacular day of our trip there were thousands of photos to sort through and there are probably still too many below but I loved it so much I couldn't delete any more!
