19/7/2011 London, UK to Paris, France – start of 46 day Contiki tour of Europe

We met at 6am at The Royal National Hotel in Russell Square London and drove to Dover where we took the ferry across the English Channel to Calisai? In France. We had a calm crossing with clear blue sunny sky. We drove from there to Paris and set up camp at the ‘Camping Du Bois De Boulogne, Paris’. Unfortunately we drove into rain so had to set up camp for the first time in the rain! Once set up we had dinner then did a tour of Paris on the bus – driving past the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe (which we did a few laps around in all the traffic!), the Lourve, the Champs Elysees and Notre Dame Cathedral. We stopped for a glass of French champagne and snails – I past up the snails as had eaten them 7 years ago when I was last in France, once is enough! We ended the night with a few drinks around the camp site as it had stopped raining.
