31/7/2011 Florence to Rome, Italy – Contiki tour day 13

We had another early start and drove through the beautiful Tuscan scenery and rural Umbria’s rolling hills and terraced vineyards to Rome. We were lucky to have another beautiful hot sunny day. The campsite was pretty cool, had a pool and great facilities, there were 8 other contiki groups staying there that night so it was a big night with not a lot of sleep. We set up camp and then went into Rome and did a driving tour followed by a walking tour past the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, Piazza Venezia, Trevi fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. It was amazing!! At the Trevi fountain we threw 2 coins over our shoulder into the water, one for luck and one to return to Rome. We then went back to the campsite for a yummy dinner cooked by our on road chef including tiramisu made from Bailey’s!
